Carmen Ceresa is Moving On
Carmen Ceresa will be stepping down as director of Praise Express after Christmas. Carmen has been working full-time as the choral director at Madison Jr. High (for the past 4 (?) ) years…her husband Pete is into his second year teaching (career change) and their children are at the age of constant activities…hence, driving for Carmen. Carmen has been an integral part of our music ministry for 10 years… so all of your students have been influenced by her teaching in some way. We will be honoring Carmen in worship on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 10:30 when both choirs serve together and will have a simple reception (coffee, juice, cookies, cake) in Luther Court. Kathy Dulski has offered to help with that reception… if you would like to help Kathy, by being there to help set-up, take down, bring cookies, etc. I’m sure she would love to have the help. Please contact Kathy directly or you can let me know. Let’s show Carmen how much we appreciate her ministry.
Denise Berczynski will be taking over Praise Express. Denise is the choral teacher at Kennedy Jr. High and is wonderful! (Carmen is actually her mentor teacher in District 203) I am very excited that Denise is coming on board… she will continue what Carmen has built… we just need to support her!

Rehearsal Time Changes for Percussion Ensemble and Praise Bells
Hi everyone,
Sometimes when we begin new programs, we do not anticipate their popularity nor the infusion of new energy into existing programs…..This is what has happened with the addition of Shelley’s Percussion Ensemble. Because we deliberately place the new rehearsal between 2 existing rehearsals (for ease of kids who wanted to do both) it is an easy change to “tweak” the rehearsal times to allow for the choir kids to stay in choir for an additional 15 minutes.
The new schedule will be as follows:
6:00-7:00 pm Praise Express Carmen Ceresa, director (Bach Room)
6:30-7:10 pm Percussion Ensemble Shelley May Hutchison, director (Sanctuary)
7:15-8:00 pm Praise Bells Shelley May Hutchison, director (Sanctuary)
We continue to be amazed at our fabulous team of musicians who flex, create and work together. We think this will be an easy “fix”. Check out the energy and creativity that happens with our Jr. High kids on Wednesdays with Carmen and Shelley….It’s GREAT!
